Tami walked the cemetery and has contacted the caretaker to get
the card index to transcribe. The files were merged with the files
from the Ross' for a more complete search for visitors at this time.
A few facts about this cemetery: Section 1 has the oldest burials
in it starting in the 1860's and burials are still going on today.
The sexton reports that there are over 20,000 burials. His records
are on cards and do not have all the information that is on the
stones. Some of the burials are not in the card file and as Tami is
finding them she is giving them to the sexton. She is also going
through the card file to add people when stones are not available
for reading. The card file from the sexton's records have been
microfilmed and the film is at the
MTU
Archives for viewing.
If you live in the area and would like to help Tami with this
project you can contact her by e-mail. Even one day will be
appreciated. You can also contact Tami by AOL Aim or MSN using the screen name tami49922 and chat.
We are sorry for the inconvenience but there were some mistakes
in dates found in the database that was online previously to
September 2012. Tami is repairing the data using a new program and
records will come online as she finishes entering the data in
batches. If you find a record in the new database that is marked as
having a photo you can e-mail Tami for a copy of the photo of the
headstone.
VETERANS GRAVES
Note: Tami has received a list of all veterans buried in Forest Hill from the Women's Auxiliary for the Marine Corps. She has added and noted each of them here. If you know of a Vet that is not in the list please contact
Tami to get their record updated.
