WILLIAMSON of Chassell will take place this afternoon from Grace Methodist church, Houghton and burial at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. She was born in Edinburgh, Scotland 1846 April 20 and died in Chassell February 27. On 1861 January 29 she was married to Richard WILKINSON in Dublin, Ireland. In 1871 they came to America and for 11 years lived in Borrie, Ontario, Canada. For the last 12 years she has lived in Chassell. She leaves 6 children-- Edward J.; Mrs. J. A. LOCHLON; Mrs. W. W. WARNER; and Misses Christina, Mary A. and Fannie to mourn her. 1901 March 1 Friday - Word was received here yesterday of the death of John WALKER, an old resident of Calumet, at Butte, Montana. He lived at Nelhardt, Montana, and was taken sick a week ago and taken to a hospital at Butte. Mrs. WALKER, a daughter of Joseph TINDELL of Calumet, was visiting her parents at the time and when she left he was in good health. They were married in Calumet about 5 years ago. 1901 March 3 Sunday - Antoine GIPP, aged 92 years, died yesterday at the home of his son, John GIPP of Calumet of old age. He has lived in this part of the country for 47 years. He was born in Germany and came to America as a young man and worked at the old Phoenix mine. He leaves 3 sons and 2 daughters- Matt of Laurium; Louis and Mrs. Gilbert EDWARDSON both at Marysville, Montana and John, and Mrs. Frank HOSPITAKER of Calumet. Funeral will be Monday at Sacred Heart church and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. DEATHS 1901 March 3 Sunday - Mrs. Anna LETENEN, aged 70 years, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John KURTI of Calumet. The funeral will be at the Calumet Finnish Lutheran church and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 5 Tuesday - Mrs. Edward KINGMAN, died at her Hancock home yesterday morning, of pneumonia. She will be buried this afternoon with funeral services at her home and burial at Lakeside cemetery, Hancock. 1901 March 5 Tuesday - Rose FRAZIER, aged 41 years, wife of Louis FRAZIER of Hancock, died Sunday evening of heart failure. She leaves a husband and five children to mourn her loss. She was born in New York State in 1860 and has lived in Hancock for some time past. The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon and burial will be at Lakeside cemetery, Hancock. 1901 March 5 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Erhl JUNTUNEN and Miss Elina KESTILA, both of South Lake Linden 1901 March 7-Karl PENTTI and Miss Lisie KARVONEN, both of Kenton DEATHS 1901 March 6 Wednesday - Charles KINGSTON, Jr, aged 47 years, died yesterday morning at the residence of John H. JAMES of Laurium, of congestion of the brain. He was born 1863 May 10 and was a single man. He leaves two brothers, J. W. KINGSTON of the Central mine and David KINGSTON of Eagle River, Keweenaw County; and five sisters, Mrs. D. BROWN of Copper Falls; Mrs. W. S. SMEED of Lauriurn; Mrs. Mat OWENS of Pontiac, Michigan; Mrs. John J. JAMES of Laurium and Mrs. John HOLMAN of Hancock. The funeral services will be at the JAMES residence and burial will be at the Eagle Harbor cemetery, Keweenaw County. 1901 March 6 Wednesday - Edward BENNETT, about 30 years old, who lived at Lake View, Calumet, died yesterday of heart disease. He will be buried at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 7 Thursday - John MATECH, a trammer employed at the North Tamarack mine, aged 19 years, fell down a mine shaft, a distance of 500 feet to his death yesterday morning. He had been in this country a few months. The body was taken to his boarding house. The funeral takes place at St Joseph's church, Calumet and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 7 Thursday - Cornelius SULLIVAN, aged 26 years, died yesterday by being run over by a Copper Range train yesterday, at St Joseph's hospital, Hancock. He was single and lived in Hurontown. He leaves parents and a number of sisters to mourn him. Burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. 1901 March 8 Friday - John SAARIKOSKI, aged 28 years, died at his home in West Hancock Wednesday evening, by a blow on his neck. A man in a bar asked him to buy him a drink when Mr. SAARIKOSKI refused the man struck him on the neck. . The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the Finnish church in West Hancock and burial will be at the old Hancock cemetery. He leaves a wife and one child to mourn him. 1901 March 8 Friday - Mrs. Susanna NORTHEY, aged 87 years, died at the Red Jacket home of her daughter, Mrs. James JAMES, yesterday afternoon. She was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND, her husband, Matthew NORTHEY, died in 1875. She came to the copper country in 1864 with her husband. She leaves two sons and one daughter - Harry and Matthew NORTHEY of Houghton and Mrs. James JAMES of Red Jacket. Burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. Services will be at the JAMES residence. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 8 Friday - Will MATTHEWS of Calumet, left yesterday afternoon for New Orleans, Louisiana where he intends to make his home in the future. 1901 March 8 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Victor JACOBSEN and Miss Emma MOSABACKA, both of Kenton NEWS ITEM 1901 March 9 Saturday - George WARNER of Lake Linden leaves this afternoon for California where he will make his permanent home. DEATHS 1901 March 10 Sunday - Captain Wm H. STEVENS, aged 80 years, died at his home in Detroit, Michigan on Wednesday night of pneumonia. He came to Keweenaw County in 1845 from CORNWALL, ENGLAND where he was born. He located at the Boston mine about 6 miles from Copper Harbor. In 1847 he was appointed agent for the Albion mine, now known as the Manhat tan mine. He with another man built the first sawmill in Keweenaw County, it was located at the Gratiuot River. He than went to Ontonagon for two years and from there to Colorado. He became wealthy in Keweenaw County mines. While in Keweenaw County he married Miss Ellen PETHERICK, daughter of Capt Wrn PETHERICK at the Copper Falls mine. His wife and 5 children survive him. The funeral was held Friday afternoon. 1901 March 10 Sunday - The funeral of Ida BACKA, who was burned to death at the Winona mine location, was held yesterday afternoon with service at the Finnish Lutheran church at Hancock and burial was at the old cemetery Hancock. 1901 March 10 Sunday - John POLKALAVA, aged 28 years, died at the North Tamarack mine Friday night when a vein of rock came down on him killing him. He was single and has a brother at the Tamarack mine to survive him. The funeral takes place today with services at the Finnish church at Hecla and burial will be at the Hecla cemetery. 1901 March 10 Sunday - Mrs. Michael MESSNER, aged 58 years, died at her Calumet home of diabetes, yesterday. She leaves a husband, 6 daughters and 3 sons to mourn her. She was born in Germany and came to this country 37 years ago. She resided in Detroit, Michigan for a time and than came to the copper company, having been a resident of Calumet for 18 years. The funeral will be held on Tuesday afternoon from the German Lutheran church in Laurium. Burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 10 Sunday - George VICTOR recently returned from an 18 month visit at his old home in CORNWALL, ENGLAND, coming back to his old love, the Tamarack mine. He decided that the copper country was the land for him. His family will join him at the Tamarack mine from CORNWALL next summer. DEATHS 1901 March 10 Sunday - Mrs. Johanna NANSIKKA, aged 70 years, died at her home at the Renova mine location. She leaves a family of 12 to mourn her. The funeral will be Wednesday at the Finnish Lutheran church on Pine Street, Calumet and burial at the Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 12 Tuesday - Albert REMINGTON, aged 40 years, died yesterday morning at a bridge near Chassell when a rope broke pulling a load of logs and struck him. He leaves a wife and nine children, the oldest are two sons aged 28 and 20 years. Burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. Services will be held today at the Conformational church in Chassell. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 13 Wednesday - Thomas BEND of Keasearge, left last Sunday evening, for Salt Lake City, Utah, where he will reside with his brother in the future. DEATHS 1901 March 14 Thursday - Peter SUMOLLA, aged 40 years, died at his Tamarack location home, last night, after an illness of five day. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn him. The funeral will be held from the Finnish National church on Eighth Street, Calumet, with burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 15 Friday - Mrs. Peter BISSONETTE aged 50 years, died yesterday afternoon of heart failure at her Lake Linden home. She had lived in Lake Linden for a large number of years and leaves a large family to mourn her. The funeral will be from the St Joseph's Lake Linden Catholic church and burial at Mount Calvary cemetery. 1901 March 15 Friday - Mrs. Bert BELT nee Clara HARRIS, aged 26 years of Calumet died yesterday evening at the home of her mother, Mrs. John KEVERN, in Calumet, died after an operation. She leaves a husband and son, as well as her mother. The funeral will take place Sunday at the Calumet Methodist church and burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. CORNISH? 1901 March 15 - MARRIAGE LICENSES ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK John BALONIEMI and Fredericka EURIANA, both of Hancock Charles KUOPUS and Mary HEIKKEN, both of Arcadian mine location DEATH 1901 March 16 Saturday - Wrn MAYNARD, aged 56 years, died yesterday morning at the Tamarack hospital, from injuries received the night before while at work in the mine underground. He had been employed at the Osceola mine for many years. He was killed when the drilling machine fell apart and fell on him killing him. He was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND. He leaves a family of grown up children. The funeral will held from the Osceola Methodist church today and burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE 1901 March 19 Tuesday - Charles WALTERS of Hurontown wed Miss Nellie JONES of Quincy Mills at the home of bride's parents on Saturday evening. DEATH 1901 March 19 Tuesday - Ernest FESING, aged 24 years, died at his Houghton home yesterday morning of stomach trouble. He leaves his parents of West Houghton and two brothers, George of Houghton and Herman of Calumet. He was born in Ontonagon County, 1876 August 28 and came to Houghton, with his parents, when he was one year old. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the family home in West Houghton and burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 21 Thursday - Frank L. JOHNSON, left last night from Calumet for Duluth, Minnesota, where he intends to live in the future. The family will follow him. 1901 March 21 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLRTK John ZOLGER and Susie MATTI, both of Wolverine. MARRIAGE 1901 March 22 Friday - William WHITE wed Miss Martha J. HEBBARD, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel HEBBARD of the Osceola location, last Wednesday evening. Miss Alice HEBBARD, a cousin of the bride was maid of honor and Henry WHITE, brother of the groom, was the groomsman. They will live at the Osceola location. DEATH 1901 March 22 Friday - Mrs. Elizabeth STRETTER, aged 61 years, of South Lake Linden, died suddenly at her home Wednesday evening of heart failure. She lived in South Lake Linden a number of years. Her husband, John STRETTER, has been in Germany for some time and has been notified of her death, but will not be able to attend the funeral. She leaves also three sons and two daughters all of Lake Linden. The funeral will be held tomorrow at St Cecelia's Catholic church, Lake Linden and burial will be at Mount Calvary cemetery, Lake Linden. 1901 March 22 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Jaakki SUTINEN and Jennie JURNIO, both of Hancock DEATHS 1901 March 23 Saturday - The funeral of the late John WAREHAM, whose death occurred yesterday will take place Sunday afternoon. Services will be at the residence, in Calumet and burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet He died of pleurisy. He was employed on the Hecla and Torch Lake railroad for a number of years. He leaves a wife and three children to mourn his passing. He is deeply mourned by three brothers, Wm, Joseph and Joshua and two sisters, Mrs. John PENPRASE and Mrs. Eliza PERRY, all of Hancock. One brother William, lives in Altoona, Pennsylvania. CORNISH? 1901 March 23 Saturday - Mrs. William SOBEY, formerly of Calumet, died at the Republic mine location, Marquette County, Michigan, yesterday morning. The body will be shipped to Houghton, Monday for burial at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. 1901 March 24 Sunday - Mrs. Elizabeth HARRIS, aged 80 years, died Friday night at her Lake Linden home due to old age. She was the widow of Captain Wrn HARRIS, a well known Lake Superior mining pioneer and mining captain. She has lived in the Lake Superior area over 55 years. Three daughters all married are left to mourn her-Mrs. E. F. SUTTON and Mrs. Martha H. PLEWS, both of Lake Linden and Mrs. D. A. OVERFIELD of Houghton. She was born Elizabeth TREGONNING at REDRUTH, CORNWALL, ENGLAND on 1821 March 12. In 1843, at the age of 22 years, she married Capt Wrn HARRIS in REDRUTH, CORNWALL. They came in 1846 to the Bruce Mines, Ontario, Canada after leaving CORNWALL. After 4 years they came to Rockland, Ontonagon County, Michigan, he was Mine Capt for 14 years at the Minnesota mine there, and agent of the mine for 8 years. In 1878 they came to Lake Linden until the death of Capt HARRIS in October 1891. She will be buried at Maple Hill cemetery, Lake Linden, next to her husband, Capt HARRIS, on Monday with services at Lake Linden Methodist church. 1901 March 26 Tuesday - The funeral of George MacKAY, aged 70 years, who died at the home of his daughters, Mrs. GEORGE and Miss Ida MacKAY in Calumet, will be held from the house today. And burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 March 26 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Thomas BORLACE and Beatrice BORLACE, both of Quincy Hill. DEATH 1901 March 27 Wednesday - Mrs. James LADUS, died yesterday at the Centennial mine location of dropsy. She was aged 38 years old. She leaves a husband and three children to mourn her demise. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 27 Wednesday - Mrs. Joseph CHYNOWETH of Fifth Ave, Calumet, has received the sad news of the deaths of her mother, Mrs. Maria GOLDSWORTHY and also her uncle, Richard WEARE, at their homes in CORNWALL, ENGLAND. Mrs. GOLDSWORTHY died the day after the death of Mrs. Susanna NORTHEY in this city, as the two women were neighbors in CORNWALL for a long time in CORNWALL. MARRIAGE 1901 March 28 Thursday - John A. VAWKER wed Miss Emma WILLS last evening at the home of the bride's parents in Laurium, by the pastor of the Lauriurn Methodist church. NEWS ITEM 1901 March 28 Thursday - Mrs. Julius E. FLELGE of Calumet and her family will leave today for Salt Lake City, Utah, where she will join her husband who is employed in the mines in that vicinity. MARRIAGE 1901 March 30 Saturday - Thomas BORLACE wed Miss Beatrice BORLACE, both of Quincy Hill, at the home of the bride's parents, at the Quincy location, last Thursday evening. DEATH 1901 March 30 Saturday - James LITTLE, aged 76 years, died yesterday morning at the Lake Superior General hospital at Lake Linden. His remains were brought to a Calumet mortuary today, services will take place Sunday and burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. He was born in Ireland, where his only relative lives, Mrs. ALLEN, a sister in Belfast, Ireland. He came to this country when a youth and spent most of his life here. 1901 March 31 - MARRIAGE LICENSE ISSUED BY HOUGHTON COUNTY CLERK Mr. J. MAKI and Miss Tina HEAKILA, both of the Champion mine MARRIAGE 1901 October 31 Sunday - Joseph SCHAEFER wed Miss Dora NELSON, both of Laurium, on Thursday evening, at the home of the bride's father, Nels NELSON of Calumet. DEATHS 1901 March 31 Sunday - Mrs. Mary TUBET, aged 67 years, died at her home in Swedetown location, yesterday morning. Besides her husband, she leaves a family of three grown children to mourn her. The funeral will take place Monday morning with services at St Joseph's church, Red Jacket and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. She was pioneer of this area She was born in CORNWALL, ENGLAND and came to this country 27 years ago, locating in Keweenaw county with her husband, Nicholas BRAY, who was killed in a mine in California some years ago. For some years she had her home at the old Phoenix mine and than moved to the Central mine and eight years ago she came to Lake Linden. , Where she lived ever since with her daughter, Mrs. John NICHOLLS. She leaves 6 children, two boys- Nicholas BRAY of Billings, Missouri and Andrew BRAY of Iron Mountain, Michigan; and 4 girls-- Mrs. Richard HARVEY of Calumet; Mrs. James HARVEY of Lead City, South Dakota; Mrs. Albert JENKIN of Calumet and Mrs. John NICHOLLS. The funeral will be this afternoon at Lake Linden Congregational church and burial at Maple Hill cemetery, Lake Linden. 1901 April 2 Tuesday - Fred BLAKE, aged 53 years, died at the residence of Dr G. E. GALLEN of Hancock, Sunday evening. He has been in Hancock three years coming here from Minneapolis, Minnesota. For the past few weeks he had trouble with his leg and an operation was performed by Dr GALLON but he could not save his life. He has a brother in Minneapolis and he will be shipped there for burial. NEWS ITEM 1901 April 2 Tuesday - Charles WILLS, of the North Tamarack Location, departed Sunday night from Calumet for New York, where he will take a steamer for LISKEARD, CORNWALL, ENGLAND, to visit for three months. He was taken to the hospital last August for injuries from which he never recovered. His relatives live in North Carolina and it is not known if he will be buried here or there. Inquiries are being made. 1901 April 3 Wednesday - Henry ERIKKA, aged 20 years, died instantly in a mine accident at the Franklin mine last evening. He was killed a fall of loose dirt above that fell and covered him completely. He came over from Finland about one year ago, with his parents, who survive him as well as a sister and two brothers. Funeral was held Friday at the Hancock Finnish church and burial at the old Hancock cemetery. MARRIAGE 1901 April 3 Wednesday - Wm UREN of Houghton and Mrs. Charlotte J. BURGESS of Grand Rapids, Michigan, at the parsonage of the Houghton Methodist church, last Monday evening. DEATH 1901 April 4 Thursday - Mrs. Julia AUBIN, aged 71 years, died at the home of son, Nelson AUBIN, of Lake Linden after a 5 months illness. She was of the oldest residents of the Lake Superior copper country. She was born in Canada in 1830 and came to this country in 1850, locating at Houghton, with her husband. She entered a vast wilderness and beside herself there were two other white women in Houghton. They were Mrs. C. C. DOUGLASS and Mrs. SHELDON. In 1873 she came to Lake Linden, when it was separated from Calumet. Since that time she had lived in Lake Linden. She is survived by nine children- John; Louis; Syril; Nelson; Mrs. Felfix DUCHEMLL; Mrs. C. A. PEARCE; Frank; and Moses all of Lake Linden; Mrs. Henry BELHUMOUR of Calumet. The funeral will be held on Friday at the house and burial will be at Mount Calvary cemetery, Lake Linden. MARRIAGE 1901 April 4 Thursday - George E' BLUE of Hancock wed Miss Myra CLEVER of Houghton, yesterday afternoon at the home of the brides parents in Houghton. DEATHS 1901 April 5 Friday - Miss Florence STEMATZ, aged 21, years died of dropsy at the home of her brother, at Tamarack location yesterday. The funeral was held Saturday from the Austrian church, Calumet and burial was at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 April 7 Sunday - Mrs. Patrick COUGHLIN widow of Patrick who died 27 years ago, aged 75 years, died at St Joseph's hospital yesterday she was feeble. She was one of the pioneers of Hancock and lived here for many years. The funeral will be held from St Patrick's church Hancock on Monday morning. The funeral will take place Wednesday from the Norwegian Lutheran church, Calumet and burial will be at the Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 April 9 Tuesday - William DAVIS, aged 39 years, died at the Calumet and Hecla hospital yesterday morning of heart trouble. He leaves a wife and 5 sons and 2 daughters to survive him. The burial will be Wednesday at the Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 April 10 Wednesday - Michael HILLSTROM, aged 30 years, a resident of Dollar Bay committed suicide by slitting his throat yesterday morning. He has no relatives in Dollar Bay but has a sister at Crystal Falls and she has been sent for Funeral will be Thursday and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE 1901 April 10 Wednesday - Nicholas BECKER wed Miss Florence DUPINS, both of Lake Linden, at Holay Rosary church, Lake Linden, yesterday. They will reside in Lake Linden. NEWS ITEMS 1901 April 10 Wednesday - Roman CZERWINSKI and family of Pine Street, Calumet, expect to move to Seattle, Washington where they will make their future home. 1901 April 10 Wednesday - Mr. and Mrs. Frank GROSNLCK of Ripley, left yesterday for Escanaba, Michigan to make their future home. DEATHS 1901 April 10 Wednesday - Mrs. Jerry HARRINGTO N, aged 60 years, an old resident of Houghton, died at her home yesterday morning due to heart disease. The funeral will be held tomorrow morning at St Ignatius Catholic Church, Houghton and burial will be at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton. 1901 April 11 Thursday - Isaac CONVILLE, a well known resident of Tamarack City, died yesterday afternoon at his home from typhoid fever. He had long been a resident of Tamarack City. He leaves a wife and five children - Fred, Archie and William and two daughters - Alvina and Anna. MARRIAGE 1901 April 11 Thursday - Alfred MITCHELL of South Lake Linden wed Miss Katherine HOFFER of Hancock Tuesday evening at Hancock, They will live in South Lake Linden. DEATH 1901 April 11 Thursday - Mrs. PETER O'BRIEN, died yesterday afternoon at St Joseph's hospital, Hancock. Her husband Peter is a miner at the Quincy. She has long been a resident of the community. She leaves her husband and six grown sons to mourn her. Funeral services will be at St Patrick's church, Hancock. Burial will be at the old Catholic cemetery, Hancock. NEWS ITEM 1901 April 11 Thursday - Mr. and Mrs. Alfred JAMES, of the Hecla location, are taking a trip to their old home, CORNWALL, ENG LAND in the near future. They will leave the early part of May. DEATHS 1901 April 11 Thursday - Mrs. Margaret POWERS, wife of Michael POWERS, aged 55 years, died at her Hancock home yesterday morning. She leaves her husband and a grown son and daughter-Thomas POWERS employed at Quincy mine and Mrs. Alfred SINCOX of Quincy Hill. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at St Patrick's church, Hancock and burial at the Old Catholic cemetery, Hancock. 1901 April 12 Friday - Mrs. William ANDREWS, aged 40, died yesterday morning from heart trouble at her home in the Florida mine location due to heart trouble. The funeral will take place Saturday. 1901 April 12 Friday - The remains of the late Frank M. JOHNSON, who was killed in the Spanish American war in the Philippines, will arrive in Calumet today for a military funeral at Lake View cemetery, Calumet, and services will be at the Calumet Methodist church. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lars JOHNSON. NEWS ITEM 1901 April 12 Friday - John MOEN, formerly of Calumet, one of the members of the Thirtieth Regiment of Houghton County, that just returned from the Philippines and the war there, stopped off at Butte, Montana, and will there permanently. He has a position there His parents reside in Raymbaulltown. MARRIAGE 1901 April 12 Friday - Edward F. SILLER, of Houghton wed Miss Gertrude MESSNER, yesterday morning at the home of the bride's parents at the Atlantic location. The best man was the groom's brother, Frank SILLER and Miss Emma MESSNER, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. They will live in East Houghton. DEATHS 1901 April 13 Saturday - Jacob V. SWARTZ, aged 74 years, died yesterday morning at his home in Laurium, he died quietly in his sleep. He had lived in Lauriurn for six years. He had lived at Keweenaw Point prior to this and also in Ontonagon County. To mourn him are his wife and 7 children-- The funeral will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, Calumet on Sunday and burial will be at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. 1901 April 13 Saturday - Karl HOUSSA, aged 68 years, died yesterday at the home of his son in Lauriurn. He had been sick the past few weeks. He leaves three children-Charles of Laurium; Mrs. Michaael JARVELLEN and Miss Emms HOUSSA. The services with take place this morning at St Joseph's Austrian church, Calumet and the burial will be at Forest Lawn cemetery, Calumet. MARRIAGE 1901 April 16 - Charles G. ADAMS wed Miss Della CUDLIP, at the Trimountain home of her parents, yesterday. They will live at the Adventure Mine Ontonagon County. DEATHS 1901 April 16 Tuesday - Albert M. PRIEST, aged 59 years, died of heart trouble at his home at Portage Lake, Sunday morning. He was born in Corunna, Michigan moved to Portage Lake when he was 20 years old. Shortly afterward he married Miss Sarah Jane MORRISON and they lived in Hancock for several years. They finally moved to Houghton and raised their two sons, George and Ira to manhood. He hauled copper for the Quincy mine and with farming, this was his way of life. The funeral services will be from his home tomorrow morning and the burial will be ay Lakeside cemetery, Hancock. 1901 April 16 Tuesday - Benjamin FERGUSON, aged 40 years, a resident of Houghton, died at St Joseph's hospital, Hancock, yesterday afternoon. He was single and was a teamster by occupation. She had been a resident of the Lake Superior region for thirty years. She had lived with her daughter the past 5 years. Prior to living here she lived at the Franklin mine location near Hancock. She leaves two sons- John of Rhode Island mine location and Thomas of Montana and two daughters - Mrs. FOUNTAIN of New York and Mrs. DONOVAN to mourn her passing. The funeral will be Friday at St Cecelia's church and burial at the old Catholic cemetery, Hancock. 1901 April 18 Thursday - John SCHROEDER, aged 83 years, died of old age at the Houghton County Poor House last Tuesday night and was buried at the cemetery on the grounds. He leaves 5 children, residents of Portage Lake. He was an old resident of the copper country. He will start a jewelry store in Lake Linden, on the first of May. 1901 April 20 Saturday - CORNISH friends of Mr. and Mrs. John LANGDON of TRURO, CORNWALL, ENGLAND are expecting them on Saturday from their native city. They were married a few weeks ago in CORNWALL and have decided to cast their lot with friends in Calumet. Mr. LANGDON expects to secure a position here and the bride, formerly Miss TREGENOWAN, has three brothers in Calumet area. DEATHS 1901 April 20 Saturday - Jacob KOLSTULAS died in Redridge Wednesday night. He has been in America only a year and leaves a wife and two children in the old country. He was boarding with Simon DIXON. The remains were taken to the Atlantic mine cemetery for burial. 1901 April 21 Sunday - James PEARCE of Wolverine mine location, died yesterday afternoon due to pneumonia. He leaves a wife and family in CORNWALL, ENGLAND. The funeral will be held Monday at his home and burial at Lake View cemetery, Calumet. The funeral will be Thursday afternoon from the Hancock Finnish church and burial at Lakeside cemetery, Hancock. 1901 April 24 Wednesday - The funeral of the late Sumon DEUMONTHKER, of Red Jacket , who died yesterday morning will be held at St Anne's church, Calumet with burial at Lake View Cemetery, Calumet. He was 67 years old being born 1833 June 20 at St Bartholomew, Berther County, Ontario, Canada. He was a pioneer settler of the copper country. He came to America in 1853 and came to Hancock in 1861. He was a mine captain at the Quincy mine than going to Calumet to the Calumet and Hecla mining company a few years and was with them a short time till his death. 1901 April 25 Thursday - Carl SHLEETER, aged 31 years, died Tuesday morning after an illness of over one year at his home in Lake Linden of consumption. He was born at the Cliff mine, Keweenaw County and has been a resident of Lake Linden for a number of years. He leaves a wife and two children parents -Mr. and Mrs. Fred SHLEETER, four brothers-- Henry, Fred, John and William and two sisters- Misses Rose and Tillie, all of Lake Linden. The funeral will be on Sunday at the Lake Linden Congregational church with burial at the Maple Hill cemetery, Lake Linden. 1901 April 25 Thursday - The remains of Timothy LYNCH, who was killed on Tuesday morning by falling from the addition to the Hecla Stamp mill being built, will be buried today at the Hancock cemetery, and services will be at the Holy Rosary church. His mother and a sister survive him. 1901 April 25 Thursday - John C. RICHARDS, about 33 years old, of the Franklin mine location, died at the Franklin mine location home of his father, Mr. E. H. RICHARDS. He was born and raised at the Franklin mine Lately he had been in Butte, Montana for his health and returned to his home at Franklin thinking he would now get better here. Ever since he returned he developed heart trouble and dropsy the causes of his death. He leaves a wife and one child in Butte. She has been wired the sad news. The funeral will be from the Pewabic Methodist church Sunday afternoon and burial at Forest Hill cemetery, Houghton.
